Green Leaf Report

  TXU has received their permits to build two more coal plants in Oak Grove, TX.  In classic TXU style, the two plants will be lignite burning; the dirtiest, most polluting form of coal will be used because it’s cheap. The fact that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality gave the green-light to this project on Wednesday helps clarify why Texas was recently rated the highest state in the nation in producing greenhouse gases.

So now we can ramp up our air conditioners in comfort, knowing that we should have sufficient coal power that every man, woman and child can live in artificially cooled 72 degrees.  Never mind if it gets up to 110 degrees outside for half the summer; never mid if global warming continues to heat the planet.  We’ll continue to build coal plants, so we can continue to use air conditioning, and if we need more air conditioning because the coal plants make the planet warmer, we’ll build more coal plants.  Genius.
