Forget oxygen, we need Christmas Trees!

December 4th, 2006 · No Comments ·

Ah well, with all of the drought and extreme weather of the past year, it’s easy to forget about the locally grown Christmas tree farms.  Luckily for someone, the irrigation methods of North Texas tree farms have sustained most of these Christmas trees through the two-year drought.  So our clean water supply is dwindling while our population is still exploding, but the local Christmas trees are available.  I’m sure there’s an argument here about religious choice and how we should respect traditions, etc., but I doubt any Jerusalem man worshipped around a North Texas pine.  Let’s stop the irrigation, don’t chop the older trees down, and decorate a potted plant. And if the mentioned pine trees aren’t adapted to local conditions, let’s replace the dead trees with natives.
