It’s almost a cliche how global warming affects polar bear and artic species. I saw a mention of it recently on Saturday Night Live, as part of a ‘Debbie downer’ skit (the annoying friend who always sees the worst, most depressing aspects of any siuation). But, cliche or not, there is a real trend in the weights and populations of the species.
This CNN article expands on the effects of global warming on species around the world; we’re forcing adaptation and extinction outside of the arctis, also. This isn’t really anything new for humanity, our encroachment on natual habitats has endangered species for years, but this is a depressing article that shows we’re now going a step further. There’s increasing evidence that, through global warming, we endanger species in the most remote areas where no humans physically reside.
